Abou me
Dr. Andreas A. Bastian
I have more than ten years of international experience in the life sciences and pharmaceutical industries. I am particularly passionate about translating scientific innovation into practical applications and supporting the successful development and commercialisation of innovative therapeutics and medical devices.
As a former founder and managing director of a biotech start-up, I understand the challenges of entrepreneurship first-hand. I know how demanding it can be to turn scientific ideas into viable projects and convincing business models.
My motto is: “The right communication is the key.” Effective communication is essential for attracting investors, securing grant funding, building strong partnerships, aligning different interests, and planning and implementing projects successfully.
Through my previous role as Head of Strategic Project Management in the business development division of a pharmaceutical company, I understand the perspectives of scientists, start-up founders, and established pharmaceutical companies alike. This enables me to assess complex situations, bridge different expectations, and develop practical solutions.
At MERKBAST Consulting, I support biotech entrepreneurs in strategically advancing their projects, identifying opportunities at an early stage, and assessing risks realistically.
I hold a PhD in Chemistry and a German Diplom degree in Chemistry, and I am a certified pharmaceutical representative in accordance with Section 75 of the German Medicines Act. I am known for my hands-on approach and work as a solution-oriented sparring partner, combining scientific, commercial, and strategic perspectives.
With MERKBAST Consulting, I aim to support promising biotechnology projects and contribute to the continued growth of the biotech ecosystem in Rhineland-Palatinate.
